Air Jordan III 3 "Cement" Release

This post is geared towards the sneaker fanatics that were born in the '70s, and '80s. Over the passed weekend the Air Jordan 3 (III) White/Fire Red-Cement Grey-Black sneakers were re-released (retro-ed). These shoes are more commonly known as the "Cement" Air Jordan 3 (III). The stores were probably busy, maybe not quite as busy as the "mobs" for the "Cool Grey" XI release, but busy nonetheless. Sites like Live Stock, Eastbay, Sole Collector, and some other sites have done a good job of telling the story of the Air Jordan III.

In brief, the "Cement" Air Jordan III sneakers were originally released in 1988. The shoes were "the first to use the 'jump-man' logo, had the first visible air bubble in a Jordan shoe, and were the first to use the now iconic elephant print". The original Air Jordan III sneakers, as most of the much older buyers/collectors know sported a "Nike Air" badge at the back of the shoes.

To the younger people out there buying/"collecting" sneakers, I challenge you to do a bit of homework on the history of the shoes you're buying. Don't just buy shoes because there is a 'jump-man' on it, or because someone else is buying it. It's good to have knowledge of what we're investing our money into whether it's sneakers, or stocks.  I feel like a lot of the shoes I buy, specifically retros, bring me back to a certain point in my life, and bring back a lot of memories.

How many of you bought a pair of these sneakers this passed weekend? What did you think of them? Leave your comments below.

Here are some photos of the sneakers I've been babbling about, just in case you don't know.
